The Jeep Cherokee XJ was created by American Motors Corporation
and entered the market in the 1984 model year.
The Xj is often reffered to as the "down-sized Cherokee"
to distinguish itself from its older brothers, the full-sized Cherokee
and Grand Wagoneers of the '60s, '70s, and '80s.
The New Cherokee was called the XJ by Vehicle code, like
Yj and Tj for Wrangleers and ZJ and WJ for The Grand Cherokee.

In 1984 The Cherokee Xj was named 4x4 of the year
the xj was smaller and lighter than The old Full-size Jeeps,
which meant that the Xj was much more Maneuverable, in offroad use
and more street friendly,
As Such The XJ became the first 4 door SUV,
So The Xj actualy set the standard for all modern SUV, To date.
The xj light weight came its unibody construction, and not
using a rigid frame.
But make no mistake, the xj is a real 4x4 whith solid axels, and low Range transfer
case.
The Xj handels offroad driving quite well, it was small light, and Whit the
4.0l High Output innline six Engine, It was quite powerful to.
The Xj was not just the perfect SUV, but a tru all round utility vehicle.
The Xj is still to day a very popular car.
The xj Production lasted 18 years, and ended in 2001
whit a total of 2,884,172 Cherokee xj Built.
