Island vinter 2006

We have just returned from the most fantastic winter trip to Iceland. We took advantage of Smyril-line's real cheap winter rates. 2200 T/R with car Lux cabin for two. In Iceland we rented cabins for 300-400 Nkr per day, so we had lots of money left for beer and wine!

Did lots of snow and glacier driving, weather most perfect cold and sunny, though last days lots of wind, so we experienced sand storms in the south, which changed to a roaring blizzard, with winds of 35 plus m/s!!!
In fact cars were getting blown off the roads.

Found ourselves going over a mountain pass in the a complete whiteout, with only us on the road with snow 50cm - 1 m deep, no crash barriers, and trying to navigate with the GPS...all this on the route 1 the best road in the Iceland!

Anyway here are a few photos from the trip of a life time!!!
