Den nye Power Stroke har:
<b>Improved Fuel Injection</b>
A second-generation electro-hydraulic common rail fuel system (G2) uses high-pressure injectors adapted from the aerospace industry to efficiently manage fuel. The new injectors are much smaller, leaving room to accommodate four valves per cylinder. Higher injection pressure combined with four valves per cylinder increases performance and fuel economy while lowering emissions, due to more complete mixing of fuel and air for better combustion. The digital technology ensures precise fuel injection control for a quicker response to driver input, while optimizing fuel consumption.
The G2 fuel injection system uses the engine lubricating oil as a pumping medium. A dedicated high-pressure pump provides 3,000 psi lube oil to a common rail; then, in the injector itself, it is intensified by a ratio of 7:1 to 26,000 psi. This allows for flexibility that improves performance and fuel economy well beyond other fuel systems. Only at the very tip of the injector does the system see high injection pressure and it is not transferred elsewhere in the engine, alleviating concerns about fuel leaks under high pressure.
<b>Faster Acceleration</b>
The EVRT™ electronically-controlled turbocharger improves engine responsiveness and efficiency by allowing an infinitely adjustable supply of air. This adjustable airflow gives the Power Stroke diesel turbocharger the attributes of the best turbocharger match for all conditions - it acts like a small turbo for instant response at low speeds, and works like a large turbo when more airflow is needed at full power. Combining the flexibility of the fuel system with the electronically-controlled turbo, the engine responds to driver needs, optimizing performance, emissions and fuel economy.
<b>Cleaner Emissions</b>
To address clean air concerns, International has designed cooled EGR into the Power Stroke diesel. EGR recirculates some of the exhaust gas into the engine intake to help reduce peak temperatures in the cylinder where oxides of nitrogen (NOx) are formed. Cooled peak cylinder temperatures ultimately reduce NOx production, which in turn reduces ozone and smog in the environment.
